As fourth-generation vintners from Napa Valley and relations of the Beringers, brothers Walter and Roy Raymond have had plenty of time to develop terrific wines -- and an excellent wine-tasting experience. The short drive through vineyards to reach the friendly, unintimidating cellar is a case in point: Passing the heavy-hanging grapes (in summer) makes you feel like you’re really in the thick of things before you even get in the door. The spacious, warm room, complete with dining table and chairs, is a perfect setting for sampling the winery’s two tastings ($7.50 and $15). Bottles start at around $13 and top out at $35, although the Generations cab costs $85. Along with the overall experience, there’s a great gift selection, which includes barbecue sauces, mustards, chocolate wine syrup, and gooey hazelnut merlot fudge sauce. Private reserve tastings cost $5. Sorry, there are no picnic facilities. Daily 10am-4pm. Tours by appointment only. Closed major holidays.
