Hotel St. Helena, St. Helena

This downtown hotel occupies a historic 1881 building, the oldest wooden structure in St. Helena. The hotel keepers celebrated the building’s 100th birthday with a much-needed renovation; now it’s more comfortable than ever. The hallways are cluttered with stuffed animals, wicker strollers, and other memorabilia. Most of the rooms have been decorated with brass beds, wall-to-wall burgundy carpeting, and oak or maple furnishings. There’s a garden patio, a wine and coffee bar, and complimentary wine hour each evening. Perhaps most enjoyable is the hotel’s downtown location, front-and-center to the area’s best shopping and restaurants. Smoking is discouraged.
